Following on in fairly quick succession from last month's 'Nothing At All', the second sample of William Doyle's forthcoming new album Great Spans of Muddy Time is a significantly scratchier affair. Crackling with saturated synthesizers, reminiscent of Broadcast, 'Semi-bionic' is a novel entanglement of analogue, digital and organic elements. Lyrically attempting to navigate the alarming rate of technological progress, Doyle explained: "('Semi-bionic is a) song that deals with the contemporary concerns of the modern person… of the year 2050 or so. A world in which robotic appendages and augmented biological upgrades on the human form are rife. This song deals with the melancholy of that reality.” Great Spans of Muddy Time will arrive via Tough Love Records on the 19th of March. -Holly Mullineaux
